Outdoor Education
The Outdoor Education Program at St Luke's is designed to develop 'life skills' for the students. Each Year Group goes on a school camp. Taking students into a different environment provides excellent opportunities to develop skills in co-operation, organisation, communication, risk management, decision making, goal setting, leadership, problem solving and cooking.
St Luke's is extensively involved in the Duke of Edinburgh's Award Scheme. The Award encourages students to learn through experience. One component of the Award requires students to complete expeditions in wilderness locations. This encourages students to work in teams and to be responsible, independent and self-sufficient. Through the Award, students also become involved in community service projects, which links directly with the School's focus on compassion and generosity.
