Cottage (Pre-Kindergarten)

The 3 day a week Cottage program for 4 year olds encompasses the core values of our Christian school and tailors developmentally sequential learning programs to highlight each individual's strengths.

Activities are strategically planned to instill the fundamentals of early literacy, numeracy and technology, with the excitement of art, sport, music and play; all carefully designed to allow each child to reach developmental milestones at his or her own pace.

Within the current educational context, the development of technological skills and the ability to effectively utilise technology to its full capacity is of great significance. The Cottage program encompasses this need through the use of resources such as interactive whiteboards and through guided technology instruction.

The Cottage program is designed to engage children through incidental and structured play, both as individuals and in a group, to openly explore avenues of curiosity and engage in critical thinking. The staff have a love of teaching that creates a supportive and nurturing environment, where each child feels happy, secure and valued.

The well-rounded Cottage program aims to provide each child with all the skills they will need to make the transition to Kindergarten with a love of learning that will not fade.

There are two Cottage classes; each with 20 students, a classroom teacher and a teacher's aide. One class operates on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday and the other class on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. To be considered for Cottage, a child must have turned 4 years of age by 31 March in the year they wish to commence.
