St Luke's Library
The mission for the Library at St Luke's is to provide an information and literature rich environment for students and staff where information literacy and literature appreciation are nurtured. Ethical, creative and critical use of information is encouraged thereby empowering students to become lifelong learners.
St Luke's library is a modern, well stocked facility providing materials and support for research and for reading. The library space has been designed for multipurpose, simultaneous activities such as Senior and Junior classes, private study, storytelling, individual reading, group discussion and computer use.
The collection contains fiction and non-fiction books, picture books, graphic fiction, magazines, HSC support material and current affairs bulletins. The library subscribes to online encyclopaedias and subject specific databases that give students access to thousands of electronic, peer reviewed, full-text articles. There are laptops and desktop computers available for student use.
Regular author visits for both Junior and Senior classes occur throughout the year along with Book Week and National Simultaneous Story time celebrations. An author is invited as Author-In-Residence to spend a week working with students to develop creative thinking and writing skills. A Literature Circle program provides further reading opportunities for classes.
Two full-time teacher librarians are available to assist students with any research queries.
The Library is open Monday to Friday - 7.30am to 4.00pm.
