On Wednesday, our St Luke’s Open Girls team competed, as AICES Champions, in the CIS Girls' Schools Basketball Championships. This competition brings together the champion school team from each of the AICES, ISA and IGSSA competitions to play off to be crowned CIS champions and represent CIS at the NSW All Schools Championships. This year we were pitted against Pymble Ladies College (IGSSA) and Central Coast Grammar (ISA). We played PLC in the first match of the day and despite a tight start to the match the St Luke’s girls pulled away throughout the game to record a comfortable 63-37 victory. After Central Coast Grammar then beat PLC by a similar margin we were all set for a tough final game. In a much closer contest the St Luke’s girls found themselves with a 12 point half-time lead before holding onto that advantage throughout the final 2 quarters to record a 59-46 victory. Congratulations to the team on a great performance and good luck in the NSW All Schools competitions.
