  • St Luke's Students Shine at Nationals Basketball Championships

    Posted On 28 July, 2017

Congratulations to Kitty Henderson (Year 9), Caitlin Hale (Year 9) and Elles van der Maas (Year 10), who were selected on the U16 NSW Metro Basketball Team to compete at the National Championships (Representative) in Perth during the recent Term 2 Holidays. The St Luke’s students, together with several additional players from Manly Warringah Basketball Association, showed the strength of both the St Luke’s and Manly Basketball Programs, making up the majority of the NSW State team. The tournament was played over eight days against State teams from all over Australia and the matches were intense and highly competitive. The NSW Metro Team came top of their pool, being one of only two teams to remain unbeaten at this stage. Their quarter final was a tough, smart win and they advanced to the semis where they unfortunately lost their only game of the tournament to Vic Country. Determined not to leave without a medal they played exceptionally well to take the Bronze Medal from South Australia Metro, as well as being awarded the Best and Fairest at the tournament. Congratulations to these girls on their great achievement!
