Nativity ProcessionCHRISTIAN FOUNDATION

Christ Our Light

The Christian foundation of St Luke's Grammar School informs all that is done, and students are encouraged to contribute to their local communities and to be outward looking.

Weekly Chapel Services present the Christian message in the setting of the whole school community. In weekly assemblies students have opportunities to pray and reflect on the Bible.

Reflecting the school's Christian foundation, our Christian Studies classes endeavour to give students a solid understanding of the Christianity as presented in the Bible. This study naturally leads to discussion of practical applications of the Christian faith on decision making. We are also keen that students become familiar with other approaches to human spirituality, so the key concepts and practices of the major religious and secular world views are covered in the senior school.

The students are encouraged to support various charities throughout their schooling life. Since 1993 the school has taken part in the annual Bike for Bibles ride. The Middle School has taken on projects with The Oaktree Foundation and the whole school supports charities such as World Vision and Anglicare. Students in Years 7 to 9 undertake community service in their own time to help them to be active in giving back to their communities. Every two years, senior students are invited to travel to Uganda to work on a building project in an orphanage and be involved in the physical outworking of the Christian message.

The School has an active student fellowship group and offers Alpha Courses to both students and ex-students so that they are able to explore the Christian faith.
