The above courses are specifically designed to help students from different cultural backgrounds, and with languages other than English, to adjust to the demands of an English speaking school on Sydney's Northern Beaches. View detailed location maps here.
How do we select students? St Luke's Grammar School is not a selective school and caters for students with a range of abilities. However, to ensure that International students are prepared for an English speaking environment on the Northern Beaches the School recommends that international students first enrol in a local English College, to study English for a period of approximately 4 to 6 months, prior to their commencement at St Luke's. In addition, before enrolment at St Luke's is confirmed, all International Students will sit an Assessment Test, conducted by the School, to ensure that their levels of English are satisfactory to engage in the required level of study at the School. Please note that all international students are required to have an English speaking guardian in Australia. If the student does not have a guardian, then one will be appointed for them by the School. Also, international students are required to live within approximately a 5 km radius of the School, in a School authorised homestay arrangement.
St Luke's Orientation Programme for Overseas Students Once students have satisfied the above requirements they are invited to join our Orientation Programme that commences in Term 4.
Students are placed in a small class of approximately 12 students. They then follow a course of study that is focused on developing English language skills. The study programmes are designed to assist the students when they enter the School the following year. Opportunities exist for students to join mainstream classes and study the key learning areas.
We also provide pastoral and academic support both before and after school to assist in coping with the challenges of studying in a foreign country.
Should you require any further information about enrolment please contact our Director of Marketing and Enrolments Mrs Danielle Hargrove.
