School Trips

Every two years the School runs an expedition to Kenya and Uganda. In Kenya, the students hike to the 5,000 metre summit of Mount Kenya. In Uganda, the students build homes for orphans in the Watoto Child Care Villages. The opportunity provides a life-changing experience for the students.

The Watoto Expedition enables students to make a difference in the world. The experience encourages team-work and co-operation. By discovering a broader understanding of the world, the students develop compassion, thoughtfulness, persistence and strength of character. The experience helps them to become more independent and resilient.

The Watoto Expedition has a focus on Charity. For the 2009 Expedition, the students raised an impressive $70,000. This money paid for the materials that the students used for their building program, enabling them to construct two classrooms and a teacher's house.

In addition to the Watoto Expedition, from time to time, students have the option of participating in a number of other School Trips. In past years, students have travelled to New Zealand (for Rugby and Band), Hawaii (for Netball), France (for Modern History and French), the USA (for Basketball) and Indonesia (for Indonesian and charity work).
