2023 Australian Swimming Championships


During the holidays, St Luke’s Grammar School had 11 Senior School students compete at the Australian Swimming Championships on the Gold Coast, with some extremely impressive results. Outstanding results include our three National Champions: Luke H in Year 9 (6 x National Champion), Sam H (Year 11) who qualified for the Youth Commonwealth Games and Josh K (Year 11) who was selected for the Junior Australian Team to compete at the Junior World Championships in Israel this year.

Congratulations to Aria F (Year 9), Ella H (Year 9), Luke H (Year 9), Alexander P (Year 10), Alexi F (Year 10), Josh K (Year 11), Sam H (Year 11), Matt H (Year 11), Alex M (Year 11), Bailey P-R (Year 11) and Kya F (Year 12).

We are so proud of all our students for their hard work and dedication. Competing at this level is an excellent achievement!

Aria F Year 9

Aria and her Manly Teammates won Bronze in the 14yrs 4x100m Freestyle. 

Luke H Year 9

Luke became a 6 x National Champion with the following incredible results: 1st 200m free; 1st 400m free; 1st 800m free; 1st 1500m free; 1st 400m IM; 1st 200m IM; 2nd 200m butterfly!

Ella H Year 9

Ella competed in the 50m butterfly, 50m free and 4 x50m free relay at the Australian Championships.

Alexi F Year 10

Alexi achieved an amazing result with a Personal Best, placing 27th in the Country in the 50m backstroke. She also placed 11th in the Medley relay with her team.

Josh K Year 11

Josh was also a National Champion with the following outstanding results: 1st 50 backstroke; 2nd 200 Im; 2nd 400m IM; 2nd 100m breaststroke; 3rd 100m backstroke; 3rd 200m backstroke.

Josh’s outstanding performances have earned his selection onto the Junior Australian Team to compete at the Junior World Championships in Netanya, Israel in September this year.

Matt H Year 11

Matt gave it his all and was awarded 2 Bronze medals and a World Championship Trials time!

Sam H Year 11

Sam became National Champion in two events with the following exceptional results: 1st - Boys 16yrs 400IM; 1st - Boys 16yrs 200IM; 2nd - Boys 16yrs 200 Butterfly; 3rd - Boys 16yrs 800 Freestyle; Top 10 - Boys 16yrs 400 Freestyle; Top 15 - Boys 16yrs 200 Breastroke; Top 20 - Boys 16yrs 200 Freestyle.

Sam also qualified for the Youth Commonwealth Games. His performance in the 400m IM put him into the All Time Top 10 of Australia for 16 year old boys at 10th all time.

Alex M Year 11

Alex has had a very successful season qualifying for multiple events in the Australian Championships. Her best results were 9th in freestyle relay, 11th in medley relay and 13th in 200 fly.

Bailey P-R  Year 11 Bailey raced in the Boys 50m freestyle and the 4x50m freestyle relay, after qualifying while still recovering from knee surgery. 
Kya F Year 12

Kya achieved some amazing results at Nationals, an exceptional achievement especially in her HSC year!

Her results included: 29th 50m breaststroke; 15th - 13-17yrs 4 x 50m freestyle relay; 28th - 13-17 yrs 4 x 100m freestyle relay; 30th - 13-17 yrs 4 x 50m medley relay
