Teacher Spotlight: Fran Wicks

Mrs Fran Wicks | Student Futures Specialist and History Teacher | 15 March 2022

We would like to welcome Mrs Fran Wicks, our new Student Futures Specialist and History Teacher, to the School in 2022.

Why are you excited to start in your role at St Luke's Grammar School?

I am excited to be starting in a new role at St Luke’s as the Student Futures Specialist – a very interesting time for students as they think through work and study choices, living and learning beyond St Luke’s.

What do you love about teaching?

I am also a history and legal studies teacher. There really has never been a more important time to be studying history. It’s all about people, the good the bad and the ugly – even the offensive – we can’t change it – but what lessons we can learn not to repeat it!

What can you be found doing when you’re not teaching?

When I am not teaching I love bushwalking – recently enjoying a week in Cradle Mountain in Tasmania – and looking after our new puppy Benji – a miniature groodle!

If you could be any animal in the world, what animal would you be and why?

Definitely a bird – who wouldn’t want to take flight and see things from the sky?
