Staff Spotlight: Kristy Buckley

Miss Kristy Buckley | Junior School Teacher - Bayview | 31 March 2023

We are thrilled to welcome back to St Luke's Miss Kristy Buckley! Kristy attended St Luke's from Year 7 through to Year 12 and was our 2017 Senior School Captain. Now Miss Buckley has enthusiastically begun in her role as Year 4 Teacher at our Bayview Campus.

Why are you excited to start teaching at St Luke's Grammar School?

I am excited to start teaching at St Luke’s because I have a huge passion for our younger generation, and teaching is such a powerful way to play a part in shaping young lives. I am also very keen to make longstanding relationships with both the students and families of St Luke’s, becoming a part of the amazing community that already stands!

What do you love about teaching?

I love that as a primary school teacher you never have the same day twice – you are always on your toes, and students so often help me to see things in a new light. As a teacher, I love the way I can break seemingly difficult things and big questions about life down so students can understand them. That lightbulb moment when a student understands something for the first time is something I will never get sick of!

What can you be found doing when you’re not teaching?

When I’m not at school you can find me spending time with my friends and family, at the beach, going to church, walking my dog Monty, playing my guitar and singing and in my holidays – traveling!

If you could be any animal in the world, what animal would you be and why?

I am and always will be a cat person, so I would probably be a cat! I love that they know how to kick back and relax, but also have an adventurous and excitable side.
